How to Tone Your Body

Who does not want a toned body? You may be tying the knot in a couple of months' time and thinking of ways to get in the best shape. You may also be hoping to get in shape before you go to your next beach holiday destination. The truth is that everyone wants a great body, but not many people know how to tone their bodies in the right way. The good thing is that it isn't very difficult, especially if you incorporate some specific exercises into your daily routine and pay a little attention to what you eat.

How to Tone Your Body by Exercises

Whether you think you do not have sexy arms or your legs are not lean, you can always try some exercises to get great results. Here are some exercises to tone your body in the right way.

1. Get Sexy Arms

If you are not happy with the way your arm looks right now, you can try the following two exercises for great effects. Perform three sets of each exercise.

  • Narrow to Wide Pushup

Get in a plank position but keep your hands slightly wider than your shoulders. Slowly lower your body to the ground but press back up as soon as your chest is about to touch the ground. Do it again by keeping your hands further away from your shoulders. Go for as many as you can in 30 seconds.

  • Tricep Pushup

Start by getting in a plank position but lift your feet off the ground while keeping your knees on the floor. Keep your hands under your shoulders with fingertips facing forward. Keep your arms close to your torso and lower your chest until it almost touches the floor. Push back up to complete one rep. Continue for 30 seconds.

2. Get Flat Abs

Flat abs are never out of fashion, but now you can get those abs by doing some simple exercises. Here is how to tone your body and get flat abs at the same time.

  • Toe Touch

Start by lying on your back. Keep your arms by your side and slowly raise your legs as well as arms. Touch your toes with your hands in the air. Return to the starting position. Perform as many reps as you can in 30 seconds.

  • Three-Step Plank

Get in a plank position, lift your body and be in a straight line. First, lower one of your arms and then the other. Reverse the movement and push your one arm back up first and then the other one as well. Repeat as many times as you can in 30 seconds.

3. Sculpt Long, Lean Legs

You can perform some exercises to improve the shape of your legs. The following exercises will help a lot. Be sure to do three sets of each exercise.

  • Single-Leg Squat

Lift your one foot off the floor while maintaining your balance with the help of your other leg. Bend your knee as if you were sitting. Rise back up and extend your other leg behind you. Repeat 10 times.

  • Single-Leg Squat to a Crawl out

Get in a single-leg squat position and touch the floor with your hands while lowering your body. Slowly walk your hands in front of you until you get in a pushup position. Then, walk your hands back to your foot and return to the starting position. Repeat 10 times.

Other Tips to Tone Your Body

Exercise is important but you cannot learn how to tone your body if you do not pay attention to some other things as well.

1. Pay Attention to Your Diet

No matter how hard you try, you will not be able to get your dream body unless you pay attention to your diet. For starters, stop getting excessive calories. Eat healthy food and stick to 5-6 meals a day. Opt for a diet that contains fruits, lean protein, whole grains, and vegetables. Do not eat food high in fat because this makes it difficult for you to increase muscle tone. Moreover, you should drink plenty of water. Drink no less than eight glasses of water a day–you can drink up to 12 glasses to help flush the impurities.

2. Build a Routine and Stick to It

Once you start following a diet and perform certain exercises, you need to stick to your routine to get good results. To tone your body, you should have at least 150 minutes per week of moderate cardio with strength training a couple of times a week. Just do not push yourself too hard or you may end up hurting yourself.

3. Relax Your Mind

You need to manage stress properly to stop the release of hormones that make you look fat. Get plenty of sleep to give your body time to recover from whatever exercise you have done. Do not exercise too often and spend some time out as well. Instead of relaxing in front of the TV, you should go out and take a walk. Fresh air will help you feel better and freshen up your mind and body.

What to Avoid When You Tone Your Body

Learning how to tone your body is not all about understanding what you should do, but it is also about things you should avoid. Here are some considerations:

  • Avoid alcohol as much as possible and never drink it before or immediately after your workout. It slows down bodily processes and uses resources that your body needs to function in a healthy way.
  • Always wear proper shoes and clothing. This helps prevent minor accidents that can keep you out of the gym for weeks. Wear proper shoes and ensure that they are tied properly when you are running on the treadmill.
  • Do not increase the weight load too quickly. You may feel tempted to lift heavier weights, but you should increase the load gradually. On the other hand, you should not stick to the same weight for long because it will never make your muscles grow.
  • Stick to basic exercises for better results. Instead of trying something out of the ordinary, you should stick to exercises such as deadlifts, squats, bench presses, and others to tone your muscles properly.
